RESUMO
CLOVES syndrome is a rare, newly described, and relatively unknown syndrome, related to somatic mutations of the PIK3CA gene. Clinical findings include adipose tissue overgrowth, vascular malformations, epidermal nevi, scoliosis, and spinal deformities. This report deals with a characteristic phenotype case, highlighting peculiar cutaneous and radiological changes.

Langerhans cell histiocytosis is a rare, clinically heterogeneous desease. Since there is considerable clinical overlap among the four described variants (Hand-Schüller-Christian, eosinophilic granuloma, Letterer-Siwe and Hashimoto-Pritzker), the concept of spectral disease applies to this entity. The Hashimoto-Pritzker variant was first described in 1973. Characteristically, it is present at birth or during the first days of life, impairment is limited to the skin and prognosis is favorable with spontaneous resolution. We report a newborn male patient with Hashimoto-Pritzker disease presenting as a S100 + and CD1a + single congenital perianal lesion with rapid involution in two months.

Juvenile hyaline fibromatosis and infantile systemic hyalinosis are rare autossomal recessive disorders with onset in infancy or early childhood. Histological examination shows deposit of hyaline material in the dermis and subcutaneous tissue. Clinical features include papulonodular skin lesions, gingival hypertrophy, flexion contractures of joints, osteolytic bone lesions and stunted growth. Mutations in the same gene were detected in both conditions, suggesting that they may be variants of the same disorder.

Alagille syndrome, an inherited autosomal disorder of dominant trait, is one of the most common causes of chronic liver disease in childhood. Its hallmark is the paucity of intrahepatic bile ducts, with variable degrees of liver impairment. Cutaneous manifestations include intense pruritus, often refractory to treatment, and xanthomata.
Wells syndrome is a rare, benign, recurrent, inflammatory dermatosis affecting all age groups, with no sex predilection. Its etiology and pathogenesis remain unknown. Although its autonomous existence is questioned by some, Wells syndrome is a distinct disease entity diagnosed by the combination of a striking clinical picture, typical histological finding when associated to the clinical features, and a characteristic time course.
The authors report a case of an 8-year-old child with facial hemiatrophy since the age of 6. A resonance imaging showed areas of white matter hyperintensity and cysts. Progressive facial hemiatrophy (Parry-Romberg syndrome) usually develops during the first or second decade of life. It is characterized by unilateral facial atrophy affecting dermatomes of one or multiple branches of the trigeminal nerve. The relationship between progressive facial hemiatrophy and scleroderma is discussed.
