RESUMEN
El objetivo del presente estudio fue determinar el potencial del peróxido de carbamida 20 por ciento para producir cambios celulares pre-neoplásicos en la mucosa oral. Diez bolsas bucales de hámsteres sirios dorados estuvieron en contacto con la sustancia por un lapso de 28 días. Diez hámsteres se utilizaron como control. Los animales fueron sacrificados 24 horas después de la última aplicación para su examen histológico. Las muestras quirúrgicas fueron fijados en formol 10 por ciento, incluidas en parafina y coloreadas con hematoxilina-eosina. Los resultados mostraron en los animales del grupo experimental hiperqueratosis, hipergranulosis, acantosis, lial, acompañadas de reacciones inflamatorias leves, moderadas y serveras, tanto en los planos superficiales como en los profundos. Se recomienda realizar más investigaciones, utilizar el peróxido de carbamida como clareador dental con más cautela y evitar el contacto prolongado con los tejidos blandos de los pacientes.
ABSTRACT
The objective of the present study was to determine the potential of the peroxide of carbamide 20 per cent to produce pre-neoplastic cellular changes in the oral mucosa. Ten buccal cheek pouches of Syrian golden hamsters were in contact with the substances for lapse of 28 days. Ten hamsters were used as control. The animals were sacrificed 24 hours after the last application for their histological exam. The surgical samples were fixed in formol 10 per cent, included in paraffin and colored with hematoxylim and eosin. The results showed in the animals of the group experimental hyperskeratosis, hypergranulosis, acanthosis, alteration in the cellular proliferacion and epitethelial dysplasia, acompanied by light, moderate and severe inflammatory reactions in the superficial planes as in the deep ones. It is recommended to carry out more investigation, to use the carbamida peroxide like dental whitening with more caution and to avoid the lingering contact with more caution and to avoid the lingering contact with more caution and to avoid the lingering contact with the soft tissues of the patients.
